On June 1, 2026, STI Trading Co., Ltd. was officially appointed as the Global Agent for HIMILE (www.himile.com), a leading Chinese industrial equipment manufacturer. This appointment enables STI to represent and sell HIMILE's key product lines — including chemical plant equipment, compressors, heat exchangers, medium-frequency induction furnaces, and large-scale cast components — across Japan, the Middle East, and Africa. The appointment is the culmination of a deep trust relationship built since STI's founding in 2015 as HIMILE's Japan procurement office. Leveraging STI Trading's global network across Tokyo, Qingdao, Djibouti, Addis Ababa, Dubai, New York, and Singapore, STI will provide stable supply of HIMILE products to customers worldwide.

On February 9, 2026, UNITECH — STI Trading's affiliated company in Ethiopia — was officially registered as a HUAWEI Ethiopia Gold Authorized Partner. This certification enables UNITECH to stably supply HUAWEI's latest ICT devices and telecommunications equipment to the Ethiopian market, with supply to Ethio Telecom — Ethiopia's largest telecommunications company — now underway. Building on the telecom tower supply relationship established with Ethio Telecom in 2023, STI and UNITECH are further deepening the partnership — positioning themselves as an end-to-end infrastructure supply partner covering both hardware (towers) and ICT devices.

エチオピアにて関連会社UNITECH社を設立、建設資材・ICT関連機器の輸入販売を開始

On May 6, 2025, STI Trading established an affiliated company, UNITECH, in Ethiopia. UNITECH's core business is the import and sale of construction materials and ICT-related equipment, addressing Ethiopia's rapidly growing demand for infrastructure development and digitalization. Working in coordination with STI's trading company in the Djibouti Free Zone, UNITECH has secured a stable procurement and logistics route, building a fast and competitive supply chain into the Ethiopian market. This marks a significant step in further strengthening STI Trading's business foundation in Ethiopia.

Trading Company Established in Djibouti Free Zone — Building Materials Supply to Ethiopian Market Begins

On November 25, 2024, STI Trading established a trading company in the Djibouti Free Zone together with a business partner. Djibouti serves as Ethiopia's primary maritime gateway, handling approximately 90% of the country's import and export logistics — making it a strategically vital hub. Through the new company, STI has commenced the supply of building materials to the Ethiopian market. By leveraging the Djibouti Free Zone's preferential tax environment and logistics infrastructure, STI is building a stable and competitive supply chain for building materials into Ethiopia, responding to the country's rapidly growing infrastructure and construction demand.

Through global procurement from METAL ONE — Mitsubishi Corporation Group's specialized steel trading company — a stable and high-quality supply of raw materials for steel products has been secured. This partnership with one of Japan's leading general trading company groups significantly enhances WODA METAL's manufacturing quality and supply stability, contributing to the strengthening of Ethiopia's metal processing industry on the international stage.

On May 23, 2024, Safaricom Ethiopia CEO Mr. WIM and his Executive Team visited WODA METAL for the historic Handover Ceremony — marking the first telecom tower for Safaricom manufactured in Ethiopia. The ceremony celebrated the formal delivery of Ethiopia's first domestically manufactured telecommunications tower to Safaricom, with WODA METAL's high manufacturing quality receiving high praise. This milestone fulfills the commitment made in 2021 to source telecom towers domestically for the Safaricom Ethiopia project — one of the greatest achievements in STI Trading's Africa business.

The Prime Minister and his team toured the factory's advanced facilities and production lines, highly commending the project's significance to Ethiopia's telecommunications infrastructure development. On May 27, 2023, the Executive Management Team of Ethio Telecom — Ethiopia's largest telecommunications company — visited WODA METAL for an official inspection. On February 9, 2023, GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit / German Development Cooperation) recognized STI Trading's Ethiopia project with a grant of €120,000. The funds are being applied toward ISO certification and the establishment of a quality assurance management system, contributing to the further internationalization and elevation of standards across the Ethiopia project. This recognition by a globally respected institution affirms STI's long-standing commitment to international management standards — a milestone that strengthens the company's confidence and foundation for continued global expansion.

Mother Tree Coffee Brand Launched — Ethiopian Coffee Export to Japan & China, SDGs Initiative Adopted by Doutor & APEX

On November 26, 2022, STI Trading co-founded the MTC (Mother Tree Coffee) brand together with Mr. Kobayashi, Representative Director of the Japan Running Association — a partnership born through a shared love of running in Ethiopia. Named after the 500-year-old mother coffee trees in Ethiopia's Kaffa region — the birthplace of coffee — MTC exports premium Ethiopian coffee beans to Japan and China. The brand's SDGs commitment to return a portion of profits to the Kaffa region earned recognition in Japan, with adoption by APEX Corporation and Doutor Coffee.

2022年11月26日、日本ランニング協会代表理事・小林氏（エチオピアでのランニング活動を通じて出会い）と共に、MTC（Mother Tree Coffee）ブランドを立ち上げました。エチオピアはコーヒーの発祥の地であり、カファー地区には樹齢500年以上のコーヒー原木が存在します。そのコーヒー原木にちなんで命名されたMTCは、エチオピア産コーヒー豆を日本・中国へ輸出販売するビジネスです。SDGsの一環として利益の一部をカファー地区へ還元する取り組みが高く評価され、日本ではAPEX社・ドトール社などに採用されました。

On October 3, 2022, Mr. Daniel, Vice Chairman of the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC), visited Japan. Acting as consultant, STI Trading arranged a series of high-level meetings with major Japanese corporations including JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), Otsuka Pharmaceutical, and TOPPAN. Through these engagements, STI facilitated the promotion of Ethiopia's investment environment and business opportunities to Japanese industry — reinforcing STI's role as a key bridge between Japan and Ethiopia.

On August 11, 2022, the signing ceremony for the WODA Industrial Park Development project was held in Ethiopia, with STI Trading participating as a key stakeholder. Under a formal agreement with the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC), the development of a large-scale industrial park aimed at attracting manufacturing investment from Asia — including China and Japan — was officially launched. Leveraging its long track record and deep local network in Ethiopia, STI Trading plays a central role in driving this national-level project forward.

On July 7, 2022, WODA METAL signed a formal supply agreement with EEU (Ethiopian Electric Utility), commencing the supply of domestically manufactured electrical cables in Ethiopia. The establishment of a stable local production and supply system directly contributes to Ethiopia's power infrastructure development — a landmark achievement representing the fruition of STI Trading's long-term manufacturing investment in Africa.

On December 24, 2021, STI Trading accompanied the EIC (Ethiopian Investment Commission) Commissioner on a visit to the AFAR Regional State, paying a courtesy call on the State Governor. In support of local health and epidemic prevention efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, the delegation donated protective equipment including masks, gloves, and sanitizers to the regional government. On October 25, 2021, H.E. Ambassador Ito (Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia), EIC Commissioner H.E. Ms. Lelise, Safaricom Ethiopia CEO, JETRO, Sumitomo Corporation, and other Japan-affiliated organizations in Ethiopia conducted an official visit to WODA METAL. The delegation highly commended the project's steady progress despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. A key outcome of the visit was a commitment to source telecommunications towers domestically through WODA METAL for the Safaricom Ethiopia project — a major infrastructure initiative with Sumitomo Corporation as an investor.

Signing Ceremony for 170km Highway Construction Project with ERA — EPC Contractor Representative

ERA（エチオピア道路局）との170KM国道建設プロジェクト調印式にEPCコントラクター代表として参加

On July 10, 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, STI Trading participated as EPC Contractor representative in the signing ceremony for a 170km national highway construction project with ERA (Ethiopia Road Authority). Despite the extraordinary circumstances — with all parties masked and gloved — the project moved forward, marking a significant milestone in STI's infrastructure development consulting activities in Ethiopia.

On December 11, 2019, H.E. Ambassador Matsunaga, Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia, conducted an official visit to WODA METAL. The Ambassador and his delegation toured the factory facilities, inspecting the production lines for transmission towers, cables, and galvanizing processing. Ambassador Matsunaga highly commended WODA METAL as Ethiopia's first large-scale metal processing project, recognizing it as a landmark example of Japan-Ethiopia industrial cooperation — a significant milestone for STI Trading's Africa business.

WODA METAL Project Begins — Tower, Cable & Galvanizing Plant Construction in Ethiopia

エチオピア投資プロジェクトWODA METALに参画、鉄塔・ケーブル・メッキ処理工場の建設を開始

In April 2017, STI Trading formally joined the WODA METAL investment project in Ethiopia, commencing construction of transmission towers, cables, and a galvanizing processing plant. Responding to Ethiopia's rapidly growing demand for power infrastructure, the project established a local manufacturing and processing base — combining Japan-China supply chain expertise with on-the-ground construction capability, forming a key pillar of STI's Africa business.

Participation in China-Ethiopia Production Capacity Cooperation Conference — WODA METAL Project Launched

中国エチオピア産業協力会議に参加、エチオピア投資案件WODA METALの取り扱いを開始

On September 4, 2015, STI Trading participated in the Conference on China-Ethiopia Production Capacity Cooperation held in Beijing. This landmark international forum brought together government officials and enterprises from both China and Ethiopia to promote industrial and infrastructure investment cooperation. Through this engagement, STI Trading commenced handling the WODA METAL investment project in Ethiopia — marking the company's first step into African business development.

In May 2015, STI Trading Co., Ltd. commenced operations as the Japan procurement office for HIMILE, a leading Chinese industrial equipment manufacturer. Through the sourcing and export of special steel, gypsum, and other industrial materials, STI began playing a key role in the Japan-China industrial supply chain — a milestone that laid the foundation for the company's subsequent global expansion.

2015年5月、STIトレーディング株式会社は中国の大手産業機器メーカーHIMILE社の日本調達窓口として業務を開始しました。特殊鋼材・石膏をはじめとする原材料・資材の調達・輸出を通じて、日中間の産業サプライチェーンを支える重要な役割を担うこととなりました。この取り組みは、当社の国際貿易事業の原点であり、その後のグローバル展開の礎となっています。
